Description

This poetry odyssey provides a path into the primal-mystical, miraculous, land of flowers. A shared ritual across human cultures, flowers are given in every aspect of our lives: births, graduations, friendships, weddings, anniversaries, and deaths.

The anthology includes 90 poems from 66 poets around the world, crowdsourced online during a global pandemic. Our selection process was a feeling-based blind reading.

The writers range from award-winning poets to first-time published writers.

Our anthology was born from simple beliefs: Flowers, if noticed, make people smile. Given flowers are from one heart to another. In a time of tumultuous change and rapid technological advances, we wanted to create something tangible that deepened our connection to ourselves, each other, and the planet.

May you hear the flowers sing. They wait for us...

Critical Reviews

"WHEN FLOWERS SING is a symphonic collection of poems, an opera of the soul. I felt as if I were falling into its resplendency. I urge everyone to read it. Cast this book out to others to create a new flowering earth." -Debra Magpie Earling, author of The Lost Journals of Sacajawea and Perma Red

"-each page presents something of value; a line worth underlining, a thought worth contemplating." -Kirkus Reviews

"Each unique poem and page is presented with attention to detail, freedom of expression, good format, and evocative visual snapshots. As an integrated collection, it carries a depth of meaning." -Indie Reader

"Curators Isobel and Blyth (Isobel also edited the collection) set a clear intention in their epigraph: these poems aim to "deepen our experience of flowers, deepen our inner life, and deepen our connections to the earth." Their selected poems succeed on all three fronts." --Kirkus Reviews

"Offering nourishment during troubling times, WHEN FLOWERS SING is a layered poetry anthology about flowers, skillfully edited by Isobel." -Indie Reader, starred review
