Lizzie is finally getting what she's always wanted: a family! But it comes with a catch; her new sister Amélie only speaks French.
It takes a lot of hard work, but the girls find creative ways to communicate and discover some surprising similarities: they share the same favorite childhood stories and are very capable in a kayak. Together they have two goals: win the annual summer Kayathlon and learn each other's language.
But when a beloved family member suffers a tragic accident and the Kayathlon board changes the rules of the competition, their plans start to unravel.
