About the Author
Rachel Hardage Barrett Is the Editor-in-Chief of Country Living. A Tennessee native, she takes her tea half-sweet, collects Kentucky Derby glassware, and someday hopes to retire to a Lowcountry farmhouse with a big live oak out front. She lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her family, but still makes it to Neyland Stadium at least once a year. Jeanne Lyons Davis grew up in Louisiana where she cultivated her weakness for wicker furniture, penchant for estate sales and palate for plate lunches. She lives in Lousiana with her tenacious kids and dog of dubious origins.

Critical Reviews
"The South is not a foreign country, but it does warrant a guidebook for understanding the eccentric lore and customs of our kingdom. This is the one to keep handy for all the lovers of Southern."
-- Erin Napier, star of HGTV's Home Town and Home Town Takeover and Mississippi native "Southerners put a lot of care and thought into everything they do and Rachel has captured these meaningful efforts beautifully in The Southerner's Y'allmanac. Whether you are searching for inspiration for a new tradition or feeling sentimental for the Southern celebrations you grew up with, this book will inspire!"
-- Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Dallas-based author and lifestyle expert
"This is an essential read for anyone who lives in the South or has a deep appreciation for Southern food, culture, and style. As someone passionate about design, I especially enjoyed the glimpse into so many beautifully curated Southern homes--from the Texas Hill Country to the Carolina Lowcountry and everywhere in between."
-- Paloma Contreras, Texas-based designer
"This book is a DELIGHT! I've lived in the South for all of my life and was surprised to find out there's still so much I don't know! I loved learning about the origin of Key Lime Pie (my fave), William Faulkner's go-to green paint color (to inspire all of those beautiful words), and the fact that cotton candy was invented by a Tennessee dentist! Who knew! The blend of fascinating facts paired with seriously gorgeous photography of interiors, and tradition-building recipes, means this is a new mainstay on my heart pine coffee table!"
