Travel writer Genie Clarke is finishing a project in her favorite European city - Rome. But what began as a creative project turns deadly when she overhears mafia operatives discussing a secret "Project." When they realize Genie overheard them she's attacked and left unconscious. Awakening in a hospital-alive but hunted-Genie finds the police unwilling to believe her. Only Detective Leo Angelini takes her seriously, uncovering ties between her assault, a murdered woman, and a powerful criminal network.
With the threat escalating, Leo moves Genie into hiding, where she becomes both key witness and prime target. Cut off from safety and unsure who to trust, Genie must outthink the conspirators determined to silence her.
From Rome's bright piazzas to its shadowed alleys, she faces a terrifying fight for survival-and an unexpected connection with the detective risking everything to protect her. She Knew Too Much is a lean, suspenseful psychological thriller about fear, courage, and the price of knowing too much.

Victoria Weisfeld's new thriller SHE KNEW TOO MUCH is a fascinating story about an ordinary American woman who gets plunged into a nightmare of foreign intrigue, danger and murder on a trip to Europe. It reminds me in some ways of the theme in many of the Alfred Hitchcock movies. Genie Clarke is a travel writer in Rome who overhears a group of men who turn out to be Mafia killers plotting something bad. Although not exactly sure what she heard, the men fear she knows their plans and assault her afterward, leaving her unconscious and in the hospital. Clarke survives, but it is just the beginning of this high-octane plot. When she leaves the hospital and another woman is moved into her room, that woman is brutally murdered - and it's clear the victim was mistaken for Clarke. Clarke is soon put into hiding by a sympathetic Italian detective who has to help her stay one step ahead of the people trying to silence her before she can expose them. There's a lot of wonderful Italian/Rome travel description in this book; some romance; and twists and turns that will keep you flipping quickly through the pages to see what happens next. For those who don't know, author Victoria Weisfeld is a well-known mystery reviewer of many other people's books - now she had written a terrific one of her own! - R.G. the events are logical and exciting - all the while leaving the reader wondering not only whether Genie will survive and whether the bad guys will get caught, but whether Genie and Leo will ever admit to each other (or themselves) that they care far more than a cop and a victim. I can highly recommend She Knew Too Much to any fan or thrillers, especially if you love strong female protagonists. This is a sophisticated action thriller with a deep heart. - Kevin Chapman, award winning mystery author
She Knew Too Much is a nice departure from the heavy, noir crime fiction I usually feature. Victoria Weisfeld weaves small acts of reliability, moments of vulnerability, and a growing sense Clarke and Angelini are braver together than alone, into a story that's quite an enjoyable read. - June Lorraine Roberts, on the Murder in Common review blog
Genie is a strong woman, dealing with fear but clear she is going to come through this whatever happens. Leo is a redoubtable ally and a good detective. She Knew Too Much offers enjoyable, engaging reading in a well-researched setting with a touch of romance to keep things lively, without detracting from the peril and tension of the plot. - Paul Burke on the Crime Fiction Lovers blog
