The princess is locked in the Dragon's castle. Brave knights cross mountains to save her but what happens when the princess doesn't want to be saved?

When the king decides to reward anyone who can rescue his daughter from the clutches of the dragon, brave knights come from far and wide to try their luck. Will any of the knights want to join her?

About the Author

Valeria Angela Pisi was born and live in Reggio Emilia, Italy. For as long as she can remember, reading has always been an important part of her life.
In particular, she have been passionate about picture books since her parents brought her a book as a gift from Prague when she was eight years old.
A few years ago, her passion for reading was joined by that of writing for children, which led her to publish some books for children and young people.

Francesc Rovira began his professional career in 1982, illustrating what would become his first book. Since then he has dedicated himself professionally to the world of illustration, primarily for children and young people, creating drawings for magazines, textbooks, and stories for various publishers.

In addition to his work as an illustrator, with more than four hundred books published and translated into several languages, he contributes to all types of publications and holds regular exhibitions, both collective and solo, of published and unpublished works.

Critical Reviews

"Text and illustrations work together well, exalting girl power. Princesses everywhere will celebrate this spirited model of independence" - Kirkus Reviews.

"Whimsical watercolors accompany this high-flying tale of a girl's empowerment" - Foreword Reviews.

Rovira's dynamically ink-lined gouache art is homey, evoking classical medievalisms like Tomie dePaola's The Knight and the Dragon. However, his expressive character and animal designs, friendly and funny in the mode of Bill Watterson, invigorate and update this tale with standout comradely and comedic moments. In a story alternately dreamy, indignant, and droll, Pisi and Rovira accessibly sketch out feminist problems that are far from being a thing of the past on an inclusive medievalism canvas, robustly imagining the sky as the limit. - Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books.
