Upon return from a ten-day romantic Paris honeymoon, Lt. Jim Higgins, still feeling relaxed and happy from those exotic days-and nights-is jolted back into an investigator's world. A well-liked delivery man with a wife and three young children is disintegrated by a bomb placed in his truck.
Higgins and his courageous crew systematically work their way toward an ever-eluding solution. Sue Berg skillfully weaves a story of avarice, revenge, and Middle East intrigue into a setting of charming riverfront villages, friendly people, and the steep, rugged landscape of Wisconsin's Driftless Region.

Once you've read Driftless Treasure, you'll never look at the Driftless Area the same again. Your mind will associate Sue's unforgettable characters and story with each landmark you pass. Sue breathes life into each and every character. She expertly weaves their plights into a clever, suspenseful novel that you won't want to put down. I found myself thinking about each character when I wasn't reading the book-that's how much I endeared myself to them. Romance, love, faith, history, suspense, crime, shock, resolution-it's all here. Sue did a fabulous job, and I can't wait for her next story!

Some authors take you on a journey, while some have a way of taking you back home. Sue Berg somehow does both in this exciting, yet somehow familiar, tale. The journey takes you through the rolling hills and valleys of the Coulee Region, where you can almost see the views through Berg's illustrative writing. You will appreciate what home feels like in the warmth of the words and flow of the Driftless Treasure story. You'll root for the good guys and admonish the bad guys, but you'll feel a connection with all of the vibrant and well-established characters. The book may be called Driftless Treasure but we've found a gem to be cherished in the author, as well.
