About the Author
Terry Blas (he/him) is the illustrator and writer behind the viral webcomics You Say Latino and You Say Latinx (Vox.com). He has written comics for Ariana Grande and the series Steven Universe as well as Rick and Morty. His original graphic novels are Dead Weight: Murder at Camp Bloom (Oni Press), Hotel Dare (Kaboom!), and Lifetime Passes (Abrams/Surely Books 2021). He is the writer for the Marvel superhero series Reptil, as well as Who Was the Voice of the People?: Cesar Chavez (Penguin Workshop). He lives in Portland, Oregon, with his husband, Scott, and their dog, Alfie. Ashanti Fortson (they/them) is a cartoonist, illustrator, editor, and educator with a deep interest in difficult emotions, quiet moments, and human connection. Their work explores transience and reflection through a tenderhearted lens. A love for color runs through everything they make. Ashanti's short comic Leaf Lace won the 2021 Ignatz Award for Outstanding Comic, and was nominated for Outstanding Artist and Outstanding Online Comic. Ashanti lives in Baltimore with their spouse, their cat Miss Cheese, and at least three pet rats at all times.
