Description

Ruined oatmeal, an unexpected rainstorm, forgotten lunch . . . Tana's day is going terribly. As she faces one disappointment after another, she feels sad and angry, uncertain how to turn her mood around. Can finding the good in even bad days lead Tana back to her happy self?

Critical Reviews

Tana, a young Choctaw girl who loves cooking with her family, is back for more heartwarming adventures. In these titles, she starts a gardening club at school with her dad, learns to find the good in things, and overcomes her fear of dogs by baking special treats for them. Tana is a responsible and caring protagonist whose love of cooking shines throughout each story. Each book features recipes at the end, along with a glossary, thinking questions, and writing prompts to engage readers further. Though each book has only seven chapters, the chapters are text-heavy and better suited for more confident chapter book readers. VERDICT A fun, family-focused cooking series that highlights Choctaw culture and is a great addition to diverse early chapter book collections.-- "School Library Journal"
