Sounding words out is just one piece of learning to read. Sight words are often not phonetic, so sounding them out won't work. Yet many are "high-frequency words," forming up to half of all written text. That makes it super important for early readers to recognize them "on sight." For example, think of the words "walk," "one," "to," or "their. The best way to learn sight words is by seeing and saying them over and over. Practice and memorize! Sight Word Fun gives early readers plenty of sight word practice. Find sound-alike words, spot words with other words in them, and finish words and sentences. See them, say them, and watch reading skills grow!
