Critical Reviews

"McKnight (Shoshone-Bannock) captures the emotional depth of each page in her rich, realistic watercolor scenes, while Rose's earnestly penned narrative is touching, capturing a precious day filled with uncertainty and fear as well as familial love and Indigenous pride . . . A beautiful blend of community action and the bond between an elder and grandchild." --Kirkus

"Indigenous and Asian author Rose melds a child's journey with extended information on the Sacred Stone Camp and Water Protectors. Luminescent graphite and watercolor illustrations from McKnight, an enrolled member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, trace the journey in vivid greens and blues." --Publishers Weekly
