Description

J. M. Barrie's tale of Peter Pan, a magical boy who never grows up, and his adventures with pirates, fairies, and Lost Boys, is now available in an unabridged, illustrated, cloth hardcover edition in Union Square and Co.'s Signature Clothbound Editions series.

In 1904, Peter Pan first flew across a London sky and into the bedroom of Wendy, John, and Michael Darling. Ever since, this perpetual youth has continued to delight children of all ages. Young readers will happily soar with him and his friends to the enchanted Neverland, where they'll meet Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys, and Peter's famous nemesis, Captain Hook. It's a tale as ageless as its beloved hero. This edition also features the official prequel story, Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens.

James Matthew (J. M.) Barrie (1860-1937) was born near Dundee, Scotland. He was a journalist and novelist and began writing for the stage in 1892. Peter Pan, first produced in London on December 27, 1904, was an immediate success. The story of Peter Pan first appeared in book form (titled Peter and Wendy, and later Peter Pan and Wendy) in 1911. When Barrie died, he bequeathed the copyright of Peter Pan to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, a hospital for children.
