Critical Reviews

I am 71 years old. I've always loved the whole idea of Neverland and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

Now, I have finally read the original version of Peter Pan. Someone had told me I would

not like it because there were differences in the characters. Different than the Disney movie, that is.

Yes, they're more complex, and that makes the story richer! Peter is charming; also conceited and thoughtless. Tink is cute and magical, jealous and mean! Captain Hook is ruthless and evil, but lonely and scared. I also appreciate J. M. Barrie's style of writing. It's as if he's narrating the story in real time while having a conversation with the reader about it. No wonder this is a classic!
