Description
An annual that echoes The Old Farmer's Almanac. The Other Almanac is fun, fact-filled and fabulously beautiful, with a quirkily progressive and environment-friendly take on the coming year.
A sparkling new take on an age-old publication, The Other Almanac brings together contributions by writers, artists, and scientists on topics including environmentalism, botany, grief, seasonal savvy, and off-the-beaten-track curiosities, all presented in brilliant color and eye-popping design.
Highlights of the 2026 edition include a guide to foraging in NYC, checklists for signs of the seasons, a tide chart for NYC, obituaries for recently extinct animals and plants, and a list of objects left on the moon.

Critical Reviews
Critical Reviews
"Ratner's almanac shirks the tradition of merely conveying information, instead working to bridge the gap between urban and rural communities through nature in a world that tangibly changes by the minute."
--Hyperallergic
"Ratner dreamed up a version that had the silliness, colorfulness, and chaotic energy, but also spoke to the realities of nature and ecology now. Thus The Other Almanac was born: a New York City-specific, full-bleed marvel . . . featuring an ode to cows, maps of community fridge locations, and a Bronx Zoo animal zodiac."
--Study Hall
"A unique and inherently fascinating compendium of facts that is thoroughly 'reader friendly' in organization and presentation...especially and unreservedly recommended..."
--Midwest Book Review
