Description

Greg Dorchak's family moved to upstate New York in 1965 when he was just a baby. For the next 13 years his playground was the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Park, 6 million acres of lakes, trees, mountains and colorful people.

Though he has been gone for over 40 years, the Adirondacks still occupy a big part of his memory and personality. In OF PIGS AND METEORITES, Dorchak recounts some of the stories that made up his formative years, with humor, introspection, a lot of snark and a little bit of humanity.

Critical Reviews

What actual readers have said about OF PIGS AND METEORITES:

"Of Pigs and Meteorites is a heartwarming journey through small-town life in Saranac Lake. Filled with nostalgia and vivid storytelling, it's a delightful read that captures the essence of growing up, forging friendships, and cherishing memories. Highly recommended for anyone who loves heartfelt stories and the magic of small-town living... the stories were just right, with a touch of David Sedaris flair."

"For anyone who grew up in rural America, the stories and memories will immediately reconnect you with your own misadventures and misunderstandings of youth in wide open spaces. Although it strives to be silly and irreverent (and does a damn fine job of it), there is still a feeling the writer maintains a high regard for the location of his upbringing and a feeling these moments are sacred in influencing his view of people and the world around him."

Writer/producer, film industry

"Greg Dorchak captures a time that is forever gone and yet still remains with us all. His viewpoint illustrates the joy of living and surviving a world full of real danger with a comic lens."

-- Paul Feinstein

Theatre Producer

"A humorous, self-effacing, engaging, introspective - even poignant - read. Having lived much of what my brother presented, it was fascinating to see his versions of what I remember (or don't!). Crazy. Batty - apparently all the bats in our attic left that house for Greg's attic...and we're the better for it, as he shares his humor with the rest of the world!"
