What can two men do about a hidden conspiracy when they are up against the very rich and powerful nationwide? Joe and Ron have been friends since serving together in Vietnam in the '70s-and also worked together in clandestine operations with the military for more years. Since then, they have been busy teaching-Joe, secondary English, and Ron, history. They are trying to figure out why a group of people deep in the forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is training to use military materiel.
They tried to investigate-only to find out that there might be more happening than anyone imagined-and the whole situation is more puzzling than previously thought. They keep hearing about "the event," and wonder: Are these people just playing around, or are they developing something sinister? Who is in charge? Is there local or more widespread involvement? What is the plan? How do harassment charges come into play? Is there an ominous plot that involves the government? Should Joe and Ron investigate further, and maybe put their own lives in danger?
