Critical Reviews

A delightful introduction to Great Expectations for the youngest readers, bringing the beloved characters from the Charles Dickens work to life in an accessible format. Each spread highlights a character along with their occupation in a clear and engaging layout. Key figures such as Mr. Jaggers (lawyer), Herbert (merchant), and Pip (gentleman) are presented with their names in italicized font, adding a touch of sophistication for caregivers familiar with the classic. Bold colors and relevant details enhance the illustrations, making it a visual treat for young readers and adults alike. While the book offers a simplified view of Dickens's world, it serves as a charming entry point for educators and caregivers eager to introduce classical literature early. VERDICT An additional purchase for library collections, particularly where demand for literary adaptations for children is high.--Brooke Newberry "School Library Journal"
