About the Author
About the Author
After almost dying on top of a mountain in his early 20s, outdoorsman Ryan Marshall decided to dedicate his time to learning everything he could about bushcraft and survival. For the last 10 years, Ryan has spent every other week of his life living in the woods, whether it's +100°F (37°C) or -58°F (-50°C), facing challenges and extremes and learning along the way. His efforts have translated into Marshall Bushcraft, a show on Canada's Wild TV network, and a strong social media following (@marshall_bushcraft) that looks to Ryan to learn outdoor skills and bushcraft. Ryan lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and also teaches in-person survival skills courses to people of all ages.

Critical Reviews
"Ryan gives an understandable, practical, yet completely immersive experience. People with little knowledge of bushcraft can learn the basics, while others, familiar with the outdoors and being comfortable outside, can still take tips and tricks away from reading this book."
--Joe Robinet, outdoorsman and YouTube creator"Fire Water Shelter feels like one of those long, late-night campfire talks. It's honest, a little gritty, and full of heart. Ryan doesn't just teach bushcraft; he reminds you what it means to really live with the land. Every story and skill in here hits home for anyone who finds peace in the quiet, the challenge, and the beauty of doing things the hard way. It's the kind of book that makes you want to grab your pack and head straight back into the bush."
--Jerrika in the Wild"A good survivalist is always learning, so absorbing this information into the mental tool kit was a pleasure. Adding it to the wilderness skills library, even more so. An extremely clean, well-written book. For veterans and greenhorn alike."
--Kelso of @bushcraftkelso"The perfect balance of wit, hard-earned experience, and comprehensive knowledge! In Fire, Water, Shelter, skilled outdoorsman Ryan Marshall shares his valuable insight into the world of modern bushcraft. This is a must read for anyone who desires to increase their competency in the great outdoors."
--Corey Cribbs, Owner and Instructor, Stone Point Earthskills and Rewilding"Marshall's book, Fire, Water, Shelter, presents a combination of timeless bushcraft and survival techniques the reader should know to increase their capability in the woods. It has a good blend of introductory skills and a glimpse at more advanced skills under its cover."
