Today's church is in trouble. Many of them are plateaued or in decline. But what would happen if the risen Christ were suddenly to appear at the church's door and take over day-to-day operations? Would it be a new day? Would there be hope? Join the Blackabys as they look at what happened when Christ took control of a little church that was about to die.

Henry and Richard have captured in this book what I first saw lived out as a brand new Christian in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The victorious church led by Christ Himself who believes no God given mission or task is too big for it. The church is invigorated and energized by our Lord to give itself away for the Kingdom of God. If taken seriously the God perspective in this book could revive any church.

As a boy growing up in Saskatchewan, I had the joy of experiencing first-hand what an all-powerful King can do through a pastor and a people who lived Kingdom first. It is my prayer that church leaders in plateaued and declining churches will read this book and then courageously follow the example of Henry Blackaby and Faith Baptist Church. Any church that will put the Kingdom of God before ecclesiastical self-interest will find themselves in the flow of God's gracious and redemptive mission. May the selfless pursuit contained in these pages change the trajectory of scores of churches that are now sadly destined for extinction.

Churches for the Kingdom of God.
Developing A Christ Centered Church is a powerful reminder for every church, pastor, and leader that God wants His church to be alive and well. The problem is that we know the problem, but it seems everyone wants to fix it with a program. Programs won't fix the problems of the church. Only Christ as the head of the church can fix His body. For all of us who have been blessed by previous books by Henry and Richard Blackaby, this book provides sound biblical principles, a Christ-centered focus, and examples of what a healthy New Testament church should look like. I'm blessed by the personal examples from Henry's life and ministry. We need to listen to those who have gone before us. As I read these pages, I felt like I was on the journey with Henry and his family. In every city in North America, churches are declining or dying. Once vital witnesses, they now stand as symbols of failure - failure that should never happen to a Christ-focused church. This is a book of hope and a challenge to the declining church. These pages are filled with truths that need to be heeded.

With approximately 70% of churches plateaued or in decline, the revitalization of the church has become an essential focus. Henry and Richard Blackaby call upon churches to exercise faith, to live in the counsel of God's Word, and to reach beyond what they can do for themselves to trust God for the extraordinary. This volume is based upon Scripture and is filled with wonderful personal stories of God at work to revitalize His church.
