The first pussy willows have appeared in Cranberryport, and that means Easter is just around the corner. But when Mr. Whiskers reminds his friend Seth about the annual Easter egg hunt, he receives a terrible shock.

"No! No Easter egg hunt this year," Seth announces. "I'm going to sell the General Store and head south. I'll be gone by Easter time."

Mr. Whiskers can hardly believe his ears. He knows Seth has been lonely ever since his wife died. But...suffering codfish! Who will he beat at checkers on Saturday nights?

It is Mr. Whiskers's young friend Maggie who comes up with the perfect plan to make Seth feel wanted, and needed, in Cranberryport. Even the mayor and sheriff pitch in to help. And when Easter Day arrives, the egg hunt is the jolliest ever, with Mr. Whiskers as the Easter bunny!

Once again, as a special bonus, the Devlins have provided a recipe. This time for a delicious cranberry cobbler.
