Description

A bright, funny, and feel-good picture book about how families come together and celebrate their differences, perfect for fans of Shh! We Have a Plan! and The Secret Society of Aunts and Uncles.

Today is going to be the best day ever. It's the big family barbecue, Grandma June's house is big and bustling, and best of all there are...

Cousins!

Cousins always dress to impress, whether it's strutting the runway, playing baseball, navigating the Seven Seas--

Oh no! A Mississippi Mud Pie slide!

Sometimes cousins don't get along, but it's a good thing they can share: spooky stories, late-night snacks, and secret that they'll only tell...

Cousins!

About the Author

Laura Lavoie writes humorous, pun-filled picture books, including Vampire Vacation and Monster Baker. She can also tap dance, tell terribly cheesy jokes, and bake a mean chocolate chip cookie. When she isn't reading or writing, Laura can usually be found in the kitchen cooking up something delicious, or playing outside--gardening, hiking, kayaking, or hanging around in trees. Laura resides in upstate New York with her husband, daughters, two cats, one dog, and several sagging bookshelves.

Luisa Leal is a Venezuelan-American author-illustrator and game development artist. Luisa creates visually stunning games that involve character design and storytelling, and her illustrations evoke happiness and beauty, drawing on history, personal experiences, and tales of adventure. Luisa has a BA in Graphic Design and combines her technical skills with her artistic passion to craft her illustrations. When she's not drawing, you can find her swimming, riding her bike, or planning her next adventure.

Critical Reviews

"[Laura Lavoie's] boisterous, comic book-style dialogue injects energy and hyperbole into this tale of a close-knit family; young readers will feel part of every over-the-top moment. [Luisa Leal's] vivacious, digitally created illustrations add layers of humor through a vibrant palette that uses every color of the rainbow on each page and the big, round eyes common in manga to evoke extreme emotions. A big, bustling portrait of cousin love." - Kirkus
