This was a fantastic debut!! It's a bit on the longer side, but absolutely worth it. I loved the characters and the overall story. The blend of murder mystery and fantasy felt fresh and unique. The romance is more of a subplot, but I really enjoyed it! It's a slow burn with plenty of witty banter. The authors nailed the world-building and twists! I was hooked the whole way through. I had no idea what to expect when I first started this book. To be honest, the beginning was slow, but then someone dies a and suddenly there is a mystery to be solved. While trying to solve the initial mystery of the death, another mystery is brought up when the women healers called Ether and start to go missing. And then it just keeps piling up and I wasn't sure who to trust anymore. It was wild in the best way possible. I saw some of the signs to who the real culprit behind everything was, but I didn't expect that ending! Once you thought you had your bearings in the story, something came along to guide you down a whole new direction. It was such a blast to read. - ARC Reader
