World In My Bones: The Diplomat Queens Made
I followed the path I was told would lead to stability and purpose. I went to college and fought my way out of Queens, shaped by a first-generation American upbringing in a Haitian household led by a single mother who modeled resilience long before I had the language for it. I learned early how to survive, how to adapt, and how to find joy anyway on New York City streets and in dreaming beyond my zip code. That resilience carried me into a career in global diplomacy. I built a life serving on the frontlines of USAID and working across Africa and Southeast Asia to advance public health outcomes and resilience. For years, the vision was coming together. I finally reached the bridge to the life I had spent decades building. Then the bridge collapsed.
This is not a story about a single failure. It is a memoir of endurance inside systems that quietly work against the people who serve them. As a Black woman in the Foreign Service, I navigated global health crises, shrinking aid budgets, institutional burnout, and the unspoken costs of leadership. At the same time, I became a caregiver to my mother as she entered dementia, returning emotionally and physically to the role that first shaped me. I loved through pain, carried responsibility while depleted, and continued to lead even as grief took hold. It was an education in how grief, responsibility, and leadership coexist. But this is also a story about living. About friendship, laughter, late nights, music, and learning how to belong in places far from home. About falling in love along the way, and about discovering parts of myself that only emerged when I allowed joy to exist alongside duty. This book examines what happens when leadership demands certainty while life offers none. When diplomacy is dismantled. When careers fracture. When caregiving collides with duty. When the second act arrives without warning. It is also a story of movement, curiosity, and wonder. It is about learning cultures through food, language, rhythm, and people. It is about how travel can be both an escape and an education. And it is about discovering that while escape is an illusion, building a life of meaning and purpose is not.
This memoir is for:
- Women who refuse to be defined by where they come from or what the system predicts.
- First-generation Americans and children of immigrants carving their own paths.
- Young people navigating identity, ambition, and uncertain futures.
- Caregivers carrying loss while still being expected to perform.
- Travelers and the curious at heart who want to experience the beauty of cultures and glimpse the raw unscripted reality of life in the Foreign Service.
- Anyone seeking to understand the deep fulfillment of a life rooted in service, resilience, and purpose.

Margaret Fell's "Women's Speaking Justified" in Modern English
Written in the prison of Lancaster Castle in 1666 (appended in 1667), Margaret Fell's Women's Speaking Justified by Scripture stands out in world history as the first sustained exegetical defense of women in public ministry. Noting the facts that the God of Israel used women time and time again to challenge kings and other societal leaders in Hebrew Scripture and that the Apostle Paul ministered alongside women in his mission, Fell applies a compelling approach to understanding what the Bible is really saying, what it is not, and within its historical contexts, why. Introduced, annotated, and translated into modern English, Paul N. Anderson has rendered this classic and historic texts in a readable form, highlighting the biblical passages referenced and also expanding upon how the universal ministry of all believers can be understood more fully and meaningfully, as followers of Jesus seek to live into their spiritual callings with personal clarity and corporate support.

1999-2000 Recommended Reading List, Kansas Reading Circle
"Haunting tale of unrequited love.... Shepard paces his polished storytelling to accommodate atmospheric details. Despite the Vietnamese setting, this sophisticated story has much in common with Hans Christian Andersen's sorrowful romances, and its words and images will likely linger with readers." -- Publishers Weekly, July 6, 1998
"A keen tale of false expectations and confused priorities.... For his first picture book, Fiedler produces exquisite artwork; the landscapes are magically transporting, while the lustrous colors radiate an antique, spiritual quality." -- Kirkus Reviews
"Shepard's retelling captures all the romantic feeling in an economical use of text without forfeiting any of the haunting mood. This could provide a lovely segue into thoughtful discussion on expectations, disappointment, and reparation." -- The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, July-Aug. 1998
"Shepard's simple yet elegant prose meshes well with Fiedler's dramatic artwork. A good choice for storytellers, this romantic tale will be popular with a wide range of audiences." -- Kay Weisman, American Library Association Booklist, Oct. 1, 1998
"Beautifully retold and illustrated." -- Children's Book Committee, Bank Street College of Education, Best Children's Books for the Year, 1999

Living Gospel: The Life of St. Pishoy Kamel
Nestled on the shores of Alexandria, Egypt in the 20th century, was a priest who served his parish for a mere two decades. Yet, this brief service in a city in Egypt revolutionized the way the Coptic world approaches ministry today.
Ever since his canonization in 2022, people in the West have begun hearing the name "Fr. Pishoy Kamel" in liturgical services and brief stories from his life, yet most have a limited knowledge of who this new saint really is. Some might know him as the priest who established seven churches in Alexandria and the Diocese of Los Angeles in the United States, or even as the priest who gave engaging sermons, and revived the concept of "relational ministry" in a once-dying service. Yet it is unlikely that many are familiar with him as the modest man who loved sunrises, was a loyal friend, and would even double-book himself and show up late to events! As well as being a canonized saint, he is also a relatable intercessor.
This complete English biography on the life of St. Pishoy Kamel is intended to bring his story to the diaspora, introducing readers to a priest whose sainthood is not one based on miracles, but rather a deep love and dedication to his Maker in every thought, word, and action.
About the Author. Olivia Marie is a Coptic youth from Melbourne, Australia, pursuing higher studies in Psychology. She is an avid traveler-although you will often find her going back to Egypt-and her free time is spent reading, writing, and catching up with friends.

"[A] clash of iconic American imagery perfectly launches the [Silas] Lopez series. Mirabile's debut mystery ... establishes the detective as stoic, principled, and carrying the kind of damage that surfaces at inconvenient moments. [The] pacing is patient and relentless..." -BookLife by Publishers Weekly
"Good crime writing should draw you right in, and...The Washashore...does just that, serving up a solid police procedural with some subtle coastal noir touches. My suggestion: give a copy of this fine piece of crime fiction to your friends and family who have lost faith in the system and need to know that community and justice are still defensible ideals and attainable goals" -Reader Views, 5 Stars
A fatal late-night hit-and-run shatters the quiet of Provincetown, drawing interim police chief Silas Lopez into a case that appears straightforward-until the cracks begin to show. In a town where secrets wash ashore with every tide, nothing is ever as it seems.
From windswept dunes and secretive cranberry farms to the gritty docks of New Bedford, Silas chases a trail of shifting lies-missing trucks, grainy night-vision photos, and a maze of half-truths-each step pulling him deeper into a game no one wants him to play. The deeper he digs, the more formidable the forces that rise to stop him.
But Silas isn't one to back down. A fifteenth-generation ranch hand turned plain-spoken cop, he's fueled by grit, instinct, and a stubborn streak that won't quit. With a young department still finding its footing and a growing bond with fiery social worker Wren Bradford, Silas presses on as the tide of danger rises around them.
What begins as a tragic accident investigation unravels into something far darker and more dangerous, forcing Silas to confront a threat that could cost him everything he holds dear.
Perfect for fans of Michael Connelly, Archer Mayor, and William Kent Krueger, this first Silas Lopez Mystery blends small-town intrigue, windswept coast beauty, criminal noir, and relentless suspense into a gripping debut that will keep fans of mystery series turning pages long into the night.
